Who are we?
The American Women of Surrey (AWS) is a not-for-profit club founded in 1975 to provide a welcoming atmosphere for expatriates and their families living in Surrey. The Club offers social, cultural and philanthropic opportunities to enhance its members’ expatriate experience.

How do we collect information from you?
We obtain information about you when you use our website, for example, when you sign-up to become a member of AWS and register for any member activities.

What type of information is collected from you?
The personal information we collect might include your name, address, email address, telephone number, IP address and other information relevant to running the club. If you purchase an event from us, your credit / debit card information is not held by us, it is collected by our third party payment processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit / debit card transactions.

How is your information used?
We may use your information to:
• process event orders that you have submitted;
• seek your views or comments on the activities we provide;
• notify you of changes to our activities;
• send you communications which you have requested
• create a membership directory which will be visible to other members
We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We will hold your personal information on our systems for the duration of your membership and for the following 2 years.

Who has access to your information?
We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.
We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
When you are using our secure online payment pages, your payment is processed by a third party payment processor, who specialises in the secure online capture and processing of credit / debit card transactions.

Your choices
You have a choice about whether or not you wish to receive information from us. If you do not want to receive e-mail communications from us about our activities, then you can inform us on the form on which we collect your information.

How you can access and update your information

Once we receive your information, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

Profiling
We may analyse your personal information to create a profile of your interests so that we can contact you when we consider you may be able to help out with club events.
